DANCE IN THE GALLERY: MUSEOGRAPHY CHOREOGRAPHY (phase 1)

Choreography by Alice Chauchat

EVENT OVER
Trade Fair Palace NGP, Prague
3–12 Nov 2023

Choreographer Alice Chauchat (FR/DE), together with dancers Hana Polanská (CZ), Nhung Dang (CZ) and Ran Jiao (CN/CZ) and in dialogue with curator Michal Novotný, opens up research on the “choreography of relationships” staged by the National Gallery Prague’s latest permanent exhibition, 1939–2021: The End of the Black-and-White Era.

Back to all events

During the first phase (research), Chauchat and Polanská, together with dancers Nhung Dang (CZ) and Ran Jiao (CN/CZ), explore the internal dynamics of the exhibition’s hanging and their possible echoes in choreographic structures. Next year, the team will present the results of this process as a dance performance.

We invite you to encounter the work in progress during two presentations where the artists will share their latest experiments and engage in framed conversations.

About Dance in the Gallery

Dance and movement transform art galleries. Visitors discover new ways of understanding and perceiving visual art. In parallel, choreographers, curators, and visual artists share their know-how and enrich each other’s professional and artistic work or communication with the public.

Dance in the Gallery is a transdisciplinary project exploring multi-layered connections between movement and visual arts in the site-specific context of an art museum. The Centre for Choreographic Development SE.S.TA has organised the project annually since 2012 with the National Gallery Prague and other galleries and museums.
